The Fiji Sugar Corporation is selling vacant land in Lautoka which has failed to generate income.

The President of the Lautoka Chamber of Commerce Byara Singh says the land is adjacent to the existing sugar mill and has been idle for many years.

He says there is much potential for the land to be developed and there is plenty of interest from potential buyers.

There are overseas investors and locals also who are interested. Basically it could be an excess of a few million dollars. Very first class land and it could be developed for the tourism industry or industrial. It's centred in the heart of Lautoka, not far from Lautoka Wharf.

Byara Singh says the Government is also considering privatising Post Fiji.
