Reports from Papua New Guinea say an MP, John Hickey, and his wife were attacked three times in Madang in separate incidents when they were faced by armed youths.
Mr Hickey has told the newspaper, The National, that they nearly killed.
He says in once incident, they were confronted by armed youths who damaged their car with bush knives.
The paper also reports that in an unrelated matter in the area, 146 houses belonging to settlers were razed following a delay in a compensation payment last weekend.
