Samoa's Umbrella of Non Governmental Organisations or SUNGO may have had a temporary reprieve over eviction from their headquarters.

The Prime Minister Tuilaepa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi originally told SUNGO to leave by November 30th, but now he has given them until end of the January next year.

SUNGO had asked the Prime Minister, who is Minister for NGOs, for an extension.

But Tuilaepa said he had declined SUNGO's request to buy the property.

He said smaller members of SUNGO want to move into the property to develop, while SUNGO's board was able to buy land to build the bigger headquarters they want.
