American Samoa's Chief Election Officer certifies general election results

The Chief Election Officer in American Samoa, Soliai Tuipine, says the last election results from the November 2nd general election are now certified.

This follows a High Court ruling on Thursday dismissing a complaint filed by challenger Lopa Seti, against incumbent Galumalemana Bill Satale.

Soliai says he declares Galumalemana as the elected member of the Tualatai district to the American Samoa House of Representatives.

The member won 438 votes compared to 226 votes received by Lopa.

Galumalemana and the rest of the of the twenty one winners of the general election will be sworn into office on January 3, 2011, for a two year term.
