Amicale go top of their group ahead of summer break

Amicale FC have a couple of months to plan the next phase of their O-League football campaign after ending 2010 with a 2-0 win over Koloale FC.

That puts the Vanuatu champs top of of Group A, ahead of Lautoka on goal differential.

Coach William Malas says it was important to win in front of their home fans but says they missed too many goal-scoring opportunities.

He says he may look at bringing in some new blood to bolster the team in the final third ahead of February's clash with champions Hekari United.

"Our centre midfield - we need to do some work in our centre midfield - because now we have another window transfer opening this month, in December, so I might need to recruit some more player to come in our team because I have space in the centre midfield and I have to do some more work in our frontline, how to finish the ball in the net."

In the weekend's other matches Auckland City and Waitakere United both had 1-1 draws away to Tefana and Magenta.

The match between Hekari United and Lauktoka has been postponed due to Hekari's participation in the FIFA Club World Cup tournament in Abu Dhabi.
