American Samoa official Alaalamua dies aged 60

A long-time cabinet director in American Samoa died over the weekend in Honolulu aged 60.

Governor Togiola Tulafono says Alaalamua Filoiali'i, the director of the Criminal Justice Planning Agency, passed away after a long illness.

Alaalamua was campaign chairman for Togiola during the last two gubernatorial races.

He had served as director for the planning agency under four governors going back to 1982.

He was the first director of the Criminal Justice Planning Agency, when it was established in 1982.
