ACP and EU to send fact-finding mission to Fiji

8:01 pm on 7 December 2010

The joint parliamentary assembly of the African, Caribbean and Pacific group and the European Union has decided to send a fact-finding mission to Fiji next year.

The decision was reached at the just-completed 20th Session of the ACP-EU Joint Parliamentary Assembly in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Islands Business reports the Solomon Islands representative at the meeting, Milner Tozaka, as describing the mission as an important and positive engagement with Fiji.

The chair of Solomon Islands' Foreign Relations Committee, Mr Tozaka says the mission will give ACP and EU MPs the opportunity to get first hand information from the Fiji authorities.
