Tautua Samoa president resigns to focus on business

2:33 pm on 9 December 2010

Papali'i Panoa Moala says he resigned as president of the Tautua Samoa Party to focus on his businesses.

Papali'i owns several businesses and says he could not afford any more time away from them and also continue as party president.

He says the Tautua Party needs someone who can focus on organising the party while preparing for next year's elections.

Papali'i also confirmed that the vice president, Afualo Dr Salele, has taken over as president, saying the university lecturer can take a leave of absence and focus on the presidency.

Papali'i says he remains on the party executive.
