The ruling coalition in French Polynesia is set to lose another member.
Tahitipresse reports that a recommendation to the French Supreme Court suggests Michel Yip lose his seat over a conflict of interest.
He had taken part in a vote on black pearl taxation while being the owner of several black pearl farms, which led the Supreme Court to annul the measure.
The Court will rule in about a month whether he will have to resign.
Two years ago, Mr Yip defected to the To Tatou Aia coalition, giving it a one-member majority that allowed it to vote out the Flosse-led government just one month into its five-year term.
If he loses his seat, he will be replaced by the next person on the list which is Therese Teroro Tane of the opposition Union For Democracy.
