PNG crash investigator receives draft report

9:07 am on 22 December 2010

A draft report into an air crash which killed nine Australians in Papua New Guinea last year has been forwarded to Australia's air crash investigator for comment.

13 people were on the Airlines of Papua New Guinea flight that went down just north of the village of Isurava in dense and rugged terrain.

The Australian Transport Safety Bureau says the PNG Accident Investigation Commission has distributed a draft report of its investigation to all parties directly involved in the accident.

It says the directly involved parties have until January 23 to comment on the factual accuracy of the report or provide additional evidence.

It's expected the final investigation report will be released in the first quarter of 2011.
