Tonga PM expected to announce cabinet today

The new prime minister of Tonga, Lord Tu'ivakano, has said he now expects to announce his cabinet today.

There have been delays, with the Democratic Party pushing for more than two portfolios amid attempts to create a government of national unity.

But Lord Tu'ivakano has indicated he's unlikely to include more Democrats, particularly since he doesn't recognise the party but views its members as independent MPs.

He's indicated that a woman could be appointed from outside the legislature to a cabinet role.
