An ethnic clash in Papua New Guinea has led to a group burning down the home of a government minister.

Accoring to the newspaper, The National, the clash started after a gun fight erupted over a bag of betelnut at a bus stop in 4-Mile in Lae.

Police say there were a number of people wounded in the fight, during which a mob went to the home of Moses Maladina and set it alight.

The minister and his family were not home at the time.
