Tautua Samoa party announces election candidates

The Tautua Samoa political party leader, Vaai Papu Va'ai, has announced the names of the forty seven candidates who will be running under the party's name in this year's March general election.

Amongst the 47 election candidates are several top government public servants including a District court judge, Lefau Tauiliili Harry Schuster, the CEO of the Development Bank of Samoa, Fuimaono Falefa Lima, the former Manu Samoa coach, Aveau Tuala Niko Palamo, and a former ruling HRPP party minister, Gafa Ioelu Elisaia.

Other Tautua Samoa party candidates who were also former HRPP loyal supporters are, Tafa'ese Sala Vaimili Uili II, who was the minister of health under the leadership of the late, prime minister, Tofilau Eti Alesana, as well as former MP for Faasaleleaga number one constituency, Fiu Loimata.

The Samoa party leader, Su'a Rimoni Ah Chong, is also running under the Tautua party as well as former MP and leader of the newly established Tumua'i Tutusa political group, Leota Dr Pitapola Le tagaloa Pita.

The Tautua party leader says eight other candidates will be running as independents.

The ruling HRPP has already announced 116 candidates however the party leader and prime minister, Tuila'epa Sa'ilele Malielegaoi, said the final list of candidates will be finalized next month before the closing of nominations.
