Vanuatu police have destroyed more than 200 kilogrammes of cannabis.
The drugs were discovered in Salili near Port Vila as members of the paramilitary police force were searching for inmates who escaped over the Christams weekend.
They alerted the drug section of the police who went to the site and uprooted the plants, believed to have a street value of more than 600,000 US dollars.
Police say they have made no arrests but are investigating.
