American Samoa mayor in drugs probe

The mayor of Auto and Amaua in American Samoa has been taken into custody for questioning in connection with marijuana plants found near his home.

Sources say two live marijuana plants, about one to two feet high, were found about 20 meters from the man's home in Amaua.

Also found were drug paraphernalia.

The village official is being detained under the 48-hour detention rule while police continue their investigation.
