The police in Fiji have confirmed they are now working with the New Zealand police to track down the husband of a woman burned alive last week.

The remains of 28 year old Ranjeeta Sharma were found on Hangapipi Road in Huntly on Thursday.

New Zealand police say her husband flew out to Fiji on Friday with the couple's four year old son.

The police say Ranjeeta Sharma's husband is a person of considerable significance to their inquiry but they've so far refused to name him.

Following a briefing this morning the police in Fiji say they are now working to locate the man.
