Papua New Guinea's acting Police Commissioner says action is being taken on two policemen who have been accused of causing severe and permanent injuries on their wives.
Tony Wagambie says he has issued written instructions to the various commanders to report on the status of the two incidents, one in Port Moresby and the other in Lae.
Mr Wagambie says he is putting his commanders on notice because he says some are complacent and have allowed such behaviour to go on unchecked.
He says he urges every Papua New Guinean to work together to end violence against women.
