Niue's premier, Toke Talagi, says links with China will continue to strengthen.
He has just met the new Chinese ambassador, Xu Jianguo, and in a release says both men reaffirmed the good relations between the two countries and exchanged gifts.
Mr Talagi says noni is already being exported to China, while Beijing has provided funds to extend Niue's airport terminal and build an airport security fence.
He says China is also expected to build a hotel on the island in the near future.
The premier predicts closer links, especially through fisheries and tourism.
