A meeting today in Solomon Islands could move the nation out of a nearly a month of political impasse.

The Solomon Star newspaper says the Prime Minister, Danny Philip, the Speaker of Parliament, Sir Allen Kemakeza and the Opposition Leader, Steve Abana, will meet this morning.

The discussion will be centred on the response made by theGovernor General on section 34 of the constitution.

That section concerns the Speaker recalling parliament.

Mr Abana said he hopes the speaker will be able to come up with an amicable decision that is based on the best interests of his country.
