Fiji expecting closer match against NSW rugby selection

After a thrashing at the hands of NRL heavyweights the Newcastle Knights, last weekend, the Fiji Residents rugby league side is expecting a closer game against a New South Wales selection side on Saturday.

Prior to last Sunday's 72-nil drubbing, Fiji had 14 players who had never played outside of Fiji, and it showed, as the Knights ran in 14 unanswered tries.

The General Manager of Fiji National Rugby League, Steve McClellan, says the players are still positive and believes today's game against a New South Wales NRL group selection, will be closer.

"Their halves have got NRL experience so they'll be a good side but Newcastle acknowledged that our boys were very fit. I think we're going to catch the group eleven selection, because it's very early for them so on the score of fitness and what have you I think we'll be in good shape for Saturday's game."
