Warnings as heavy rain continues in Fiji

11:26 am on 21 February 2011

Fiji, especially the Western Division, has been hit by heavy rain and flooding over the past few days.

The Director of the National Disaster Mangment Office, Pajiliai Dobui, told Radio Fiji that an active trough is expected to cause more flash flooding and parents should to closely monitor and supervise their children.

Sea farers have also been advised of a strong wind warning that is now in force for all Fiji waters.

Air Pacific and Pacific Sun customers scheduled to travel anytime before tomorrow have been advised to check with the airline after the heavy rains caused flights to be cancelled.

Air Pacific says with a tropical storm front projected to pass west of the Fiji Group over the next few days, both airlines expect more flight disruptions.
