MP returns to Solomons government

7:26 pm on 21 February 2011

Another MP has returned to the Solomon Islands government, further strengthening the ranks of the ruling coalition.

The government says Stanley Sofu has been resworn in as Public Service Minister after resigning from the portfolio three weeks ago.

Mr Sofu says his decision to rejoin the government is based on national interest, which is to see that the upcoming budget is passed.

He says he has regained confidence in Prime Minister Danny Philip after recent consultations with him.

The Government says Mr Sofu's return increases its numbers to 27 MPs against the Opposition's 21.

It follows the return of four other MPs to the government last week.
