The establishment of a leadership tribunal against Papua New Guinea's Prime Minister Sir Michael Somare follows the sacking of the public prosecutor who launched the misconduct case against him.
PNG's Chief Justice Sir Salamo Inja says the high profile case into allegations Sir Michael failed to lodge financial statements as far back as 20 years will start on March the 10th.
A post courier reporter Todagia Kelola says the preceding decision not to renew the contract of public prosecutor Jim Tamate who wrote the letter to the Chief Justice calling for the tribunal to be established has aroused concern.
"From the public perception of it, it seems a bit suspicious that whilst the tribunal was not set up yet, and we all know that the public prosecutor is the one who will be prosecuting the prime minister, but then he got sacked. I mean his acting appointment was revoked."
Todagia Kelola says a senior prosecutor from the same province as the prime minister, has been appointed to the position made vacant by Mr Tamate.
