6.6 magnitude quake strikes off Solomon Islands

A 6.6-magnitude earthquake struck off Solomon Islands yesterday.

The US Geological Survey says the quake struck about 133 kilometres southeast of the capital Honiara, at an estimated depth of about 30 kilometres.

Initial reports were that the tremor had caused no damage.

There was no tsunami alert issued.
