Sole Pacific representative aims to do students proud at Taekwon-do Champs

The World Taekwon-do Championships open in Wellington today Cook Islands competitior Beniamina Maaka the sole respresentative from the Pacific.

The 30 year-old is the chief taekwon-do instructor in the Cook Islands and teaches about 40 students in Rarotonga.

He says him main aim in Wellington is to get more experience that he can take back and pass on to his students.

"It's good for the community and it's sort of like family sports - it involves a lot of families. You can bring your smallest to your biggest children in your home and you can train together. The aim was to grow the federation in the Cooks."
