Api Naikatini wont rule out making himself available for Fiji

Navosa native Api Naikatini says he hasn't ruled out making himself available to play for the Flying Fijians at this year's Rugby World Cup.

The Wellington lock is currently playing for Hurricanes development side, who've just finished playing teams from Tonga, Fiji and Samoa in the IRB Pacific Rugby Cup.

On Monday he locked horns with his fellow countrymen - calling it a great honour - and says he recognised a few of the sledges dished out at the bottom of the rucks.

Naikatini says making himself available for Fiji is a possibility but he's yet to speak with head coach Samu Domoni, who was coaching the Fiji A team against the Hurricanes, about whether he would be interested.

"I haven't spoken to him yet so today will be a good time to catch up with him and then have a chat."

Api Naikatini says his main goal at the moment is to try and force his way in to the full Hurricanes team and get some regular game time.
