A high level delegation from the Government of Tonga will attend the first general assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency in the United Arab Emirates.
The Tonga delegation will be led by the prime minister Lord Tu'ivakano.
The First General Assembly session is expected to bring about key decisions that will lay down the institutional framework for the agency.
The agency was officially established in 2009 as an inter-governmental organisation to promote the use and adoption of renewable energy sources around the world.
To date, 148 states and the European Union are signatories, including nine Pacific countries.
The Assembly begins next month.
