Polynesian Airlines has reimbursed the full amount that was charged to a customer's credit card without authorization by a former airline employee.

A local Polynesian spokesperson, Toe Loia, says the former employee was using credit card details for a customer to make unauthorized ticket purchases for other people.

Mr Loia says the case is being referred to police after their own internal investigation.

He says so far two people have come forward to report unauthorized ticket purchases charged to their credit cards.

The airline official suspects more people may have encountered the same problem, but can not say how much money was involved.

Mr Loia says the airline has authorized a full reimbursement of the charges made by the male reservations agent who has since been fired.
