US army supports American Samoa post-tsunami efforts

The United States Army Corps of Engineers is conducting a post-tsunami/earthquake study, which was requested by American Samoa and funded by the federal government.

The Governor's Authorised Representative, Evelyn Vaitautolu Langford, says the goal of the study is to set up a web portal for information dissemination, improve local resiliency to disasters, and fill in any existing gaps within the Territorial Disaster Plan.

The Governor Togiola Tulafono will soon establish an Advisory Committee made up of the key departments to support this study.

Togiola says departments can use study results in their disaster relief work with their federal grantors.
