A delegation from Fiji is expected to leave for China this week to receive more sewing machines.

Fiji's interim Women's Minister, Dr Jiko Luveni, says they have received sewing machines mostly from China and India.

Dr Luveni says the governments of these countries have realized her ministry's target to reach out to the number of women organizations in the rural communities.

She says while the Indian High Commission is working on approving another set of machines, a team from Fiji will leave for China at the end of the week.

Fiji Village reported that it was through strong bilateral ties between Fiji and China that have resulted in timely assistance that empowered local women with income generating programs.

In total Fiji has so far received 1,500 sewing machines from China for the financial empowerment of women.
