Papua New Guinea gained revenge on Hong Kong as they claimed their second victory at the World Cricket League two tournament in Dubai overnight.
Batting first the Barramundi's posted 217 for 8, with Chris Kent making 59 and Mahura Dai 43 off just 41 balls.
Hitolo Areni then snared four wickets and Rarua Dikana three as Hong Kong were all out for 174 in the 47th over.
The win reverses PNG's loss to Hong Kong in the final of World Cricket League Three in January and Cricket PNG's CEO, Bill Leane, says it also has big financial implications.
"Our boys probably felt the World Cricket League Three grand final was just playing for a piece of silverware because we had qualified for World Cricket League Two and, at the end of the day, that's where the progression comes from. I think today really meant something - the team that was successful today would almost be secured in receiving high performance funding and a ranking in the top 20 in the world and the team that lost would have to fight pretty hard the next day."
PNG are in third place in the six-team competition after four matches and play the bottom team Uganda tomorrow.
The top four ranked teams will receive high performance funding grants from the International Cricket Council.
