The Samoa Cabinet has removed some vehicle perks for ministers and CEOs of government ministries.

Quoting a confidential cabinet directive, the Samoa Observer says ministers are now limited to one vehicle only, a Landcruiser.

It says while ministers are still eligible to buy the car they were using if they are not re-elected or lose their cabinet portfolio, the purchase price will be the

vehicle's book value less depreciation.

According to the directive, associate ministers are no longer eligible to buy the vehicles they used during their term.

CEOs are no longer allowed to buy the vehicle they used during their employment, when their terms expire.
