Papua New Guinea's cricketers will receive a major funding boost after qualifying for the top four at the World Cricket League Two tournament in Dubai.

The Barramundi's beat Uganda by one run overnight for their third win in five matches and will now play Hong Kong in a playoff for third place.

Asad Vala top scored with 43 as PNG were all out for 186 in the final over.

In reply, Uganda's opening batsmen laid a strong platform for victory and were 106 for 3 in the 26th over before three wickets in seven balls turned the match in PNG's favour.

The guaranteed top four finish ensures PNG qualify for high-performance funding from the ICC which Chief Executive Bill Leane says will help pay for their participation in upcoming tournaments.
