School officials in the Marshall Islands say a failure to fill key positions for months is hurting the delivery of education.
The education permanent secretary who retired last December has not been replaced, and the Marshall Islands High School has been without a principal since the former principal's resignation in December.
New teachers are also yet to be hired at the school despite funding having been available since October.
Marshall Islands High School is the only public school in the territory that's US accredited, and the new teachers are needed to meet accreditation recommendations.
Officials with the government's Public Service Commission say work is in progress on the appointments.
But education administrators say there's no leadership at the school and teachers are missing classes, leading students to do poorly at a critical time of year.
