Samoa tops South Pacific value-for-money survey

Samoa has been voted the best value destination in the South Pacific and is ranked number 2 in the world according to the twice yearly Expedia-compiled HiFX foreign exchange Index.

A consultant at HiFX, Nick Brain, says the strong Australian dollar has contributed to the high ranking, appreciating by almost 20 percent against the Samoa Tala.

He says while it retains its strength against the US dollar, it's likely to continue to help make Australians' overseas trips even more affordable.

However, Peter Sereno from Samoa Tourism Authority in Australia says he believes the value gained in the destination exceeds the dollar factor.
