American Samoa's Governor Togiola Tulafono has appointed the Deputy Director of Health, Elisapeta Ponausuia, to the position of Director.
Mrs Ponausuia has been the acting director since the resignation of former Health Director Tuiasina Dr Salamo Laumoli last October.
She has been with the Department of Health for more than 20 years and has been deputy director for five years.
