Nearly 300 Hawaii-based marines and sailors from the United States Army's 1st Battalion, 2th Marine Regiment are on their way to Afghanistan.
The troops packed their bags and assembled at Marine Corps Base in Hawaii on Monday afternoon.
They will be spending the next seven months in the Helmand province in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.
