Sport: Daniel Vidot makes Queensland State of Origin squad

10:19 am on 29 April 2011

One-time Samoa rugby league aspirant Daniel Vidot has been included in Queensland's 25-man squad for next month's opening State of Origin rugby league clash.

The Canberra winger is one of four new caps alongside in-form Bulldogs fullback Ben Barba, Broncos flyer Jharal Yow Yeh and Sydney Roosters prop Martin Kennedy.

Vidot was selected to play for Samoa in last year's test against New Zealand in Auckland but pulled out in the week leading up to the game to preserve his eligibility for State of Origin.

Meanwhile Gold Coast halfback Scott Prince and Cowboys fullback Matt Bowen were among the major omissions in the Maroons team.

Queensland have won the past five State of Origin series.
