Fiji navy commander gets unspecified extra job

3:12 pm on 29 April 2011

Fiji's interim prime minister, Commodore Frank Bainimarama, says the Navy's Commander Francis Kean has got an extra job.

Commodore Bainimarama made the disclosure to Fijilive but declined to say what the nature of the additional job is.

This comes amid speculation that Commander Kean had left his navy post to which he had returned in 2009 after serving a jail term for manslaughter.

Meanwhile Fijilive reports that police have confirmed that the police Chief Operations Officer, Henry Brown, is still in his job.

A police spokesman, Inspector Atunaisa Sokomuri, said it was not true that the officer had been taken in for questioning at Queen Elizabeth Barracks last weekend.
