The Marianas Visitors Authority says arrivals to the CNMI in March 2011 were down 16 percent compared to the year before.
Arrivals from Japan fell 21 percent.
While the Saipan Marathon in March attracted a record number of 800 participants, there were nearly 1,800 cancellations made from Japan following the March 11 earthquake, tsunami and resulting nuclear crisis.
