A large area off Kiribati is being searched today in the hope of finding the six people, including children, who went missing at sea.
The group, who were onboard a nine-foot outrigger canoe towing a seven-foot dingy, have been missing since Friday.
A spokesperson for the New Zealand Maritime Rescue Coordination Centre, Ross Henderson, says the Orion is searching an area of about 52 square kilometres.
Mr Henderson says the search will continue for as long as possible.
