American Samoa's Department of Youth and Women's Affairs has joined forces with the local football federation to fight obesity in the territory.

The Department says it will lead a programme targeting obesity, aimed at young people between the ages 16 and 25.

The initiative aims to get people playing active and football twice a week for 16 weeks and hopes to decrease diabetes and enhance self esteem.

It's being funded by the Oceanic Football Confederation.
