The director of a manufacturing company in Samoa believes job opportunities could increase four-fold as a result of a business venture with a Chinese company.

Wilex Samoa Packaging Solutions, has signed an agreement with a Chinese Packaging Manufacturing Group, with an aim to increase capacity.

Wilex director Eddie Wilson says its plant is under-utilised and its new partner will provide technical and engineering support, which will increase volume.

"When you're in this business it's technology and manufacturing practice is crucial and rather than us re-inventing the wheel we are latching on and capturing the experience of our Chinese partners."

Eddie Wilson says he currently employs about 30 people but that could increase to about 200 in the next six to twelve months.
