Fiji's interim foreign minister, Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, has told a Europea Union-sponsored meeting in Hungary that political dialogue will begin in Fiji next year ahead of elections in 2014.

Ratu Inoke made the comment in Budapest to the Political Committee of the ACP Parliamentary Assembly.

He has restated that a new constitution will be drawn up in 2013 to replace the one abolished by the regime two years ago.

Ratu Inoke has also said that the focus until next year will be on institutional and socio-economic reforms.

He said this includes progress towards a race-free sustainable democratic system, the removal of references to ethnicity in public institutions and the removal of what he calls institutionalised racial biases in government tendering processes.
