A champion marathon swimmer from the United States, Bruckner Chase, is surprised that so many children and adults in American Samoa do not know how to swim.
Bruckner Chase is in the territory to promote awareness and appreciation for the ocean.
He has been holding swimming clinics for the children and tomorrow will complete an 8 mile open water swim from Aunuu to Utulei.
Chase says he is keen to show locals how to be safe in the water.
"I think that bridging that gap of understanding and making sure people are safe and can swim is universal."
