The Developer D.R. Horton has revised its plan to build 11,750 houses in Ewa on Oahu Hawaii and is again seeking approval for the project.
The Honolulu Star Advertiser reports the estimated 4-point 6 billion US dollar project failed to pass the state Land Use Commission's requirements two years ago.
Horton officials say they have addressed previous concerns raised by the state Department of Agriculture and Department of Transportation about displacing prime farmland and traffic issues.
While some community opposition is still anticipated, Mike Jones, president of Horton's Honolulu-based Schuler Division, says the new and improved development will benefit the Kapolei region, as Oahu's secondary urban center.
