Sport: Heavy rain delays volleyball tournament in Vanuatu

An Oceania volleyball tri-series in Vanuatu, which forms part of the qualification process for next year's London Olympics, has been postponed for 24 hours due to heavy rain.

The sub-zonal tournament, which features mens and womens team from Vanuatu, Fiji and Solomon Islands, is the second of three being held in the Asian region, with Samoa to host the third next week.

It was set to get underway on Thursday but a significant downpour yesterday meant a number of tournament officials had their flights diverted to Fiji.

The President of the Vanuatu Volleyball Federation, Debbie Masaufakalo, says the tournament will now be condensed into a two-day event beginning on Friday, with the teams to play practice matches in the interim.
