1:40 pm on 20 May 2011

Government officials in the Northern Marianas say a slump in revenue from casino operations on Tinian in recent weeks has resulted in the partial suspension of medical referrals to Saipan.

As well Tinian municipal employees will not be paid on time today.

Tinian's mayor, Ramon Dela Cruz, has confirmed it's the first time in his term that Tinian municipal employees will not get their paychecks either on time or in the full amount.

The mayor says expects collection from the casino to improve in the latter part of May.
