Vanuatu PM survives no confidence motion

The Prime Minister of Vanuatu has survived a no-confidence motion in parliament.

Sato Kilman defeated the opposition's motion after receiving the votes of 26 MPs.

His victory came despite the suspension of government minister, Ralph Regenvanu from this morning's session of parliament.

The Speaker Maxime Carlot Korman suspended Mr Regenvanu, reportedly because he had criticised the Speaker in an email.

Our correspondent says two MPs crossed the floor to join the government side.
