A New Zealand government MP who's leading a trade delegation to Vanuatu and Solomon Islands is encouraging local businesses to promote their wares in New Zealand during the rugby world cup.

The delegation has spent two days in Vanuatu and is now in Solomon Islands.

MP John Hayes told Vanuatu business people that with an estimated 80 thousand visitors in New Zealand for the world cup it'd be a good opportunity for Pacific countries to showcase their products.

He's encouraging Vanuatu to send a delegation to highlight its culture and display local products such as coffee and kava.
